The event will feature 4 inspirational speakers including social enterprises that Olmec has supported in the past: Embrace UK, Green Elephant, She is You and Life After Hummus and the award winning poet, workshop facilitator and activist Shareefa Energy.

First Steps in Social Enterprise BME Women is designed to benefit women with a social enterprise idea, sole traders considering social enterprises, new start social enterprises that want to strengthening their model, people or groups considering move from voluntary sector to social enterprise model, or budding social entrepreneurs…

The Real Change Collective is a partnership including Olmec, Arhag, Praxis, Doctors of The World, Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation (IKRWO) and Migrants Rights Network providing a holistic package of support to migrant and refugee women and girls and funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

Workshop 1: Introduction to First Steps In Social Enterprise

A taster session on the key elements that need to be in place for a successful social enterprise and an opportunity hear about our programme. First Steps in Social Enterprise will help you systematically map the mission-critical areas of your business plan, engaging practical tools, legal and financial knowledge, and business theory to support your social enterprise.

Workshop 2 : Turn contacts into contacts

Do you want to develop your trading contacts? Do you want to meet other social entrepreneurs? Do you want to share your experiences? Do you have something you want to tell the world

Workshop 3: What does a housing association look for in a tender?

Find out what it takes to win a contract with a housing association or similar organisation? What will the competition look like? What do I need to demonstrate competence? What reassurance will a housing association look for? What policies and procedures does my organisation need?

Workshop 4: Women are changemakers

Unlocking your potential, connecting your skills, contacts and aspirations with business. Confidence and sharing triumphs and challenges. Social business designed to meet create change. Each one, teach one; sharing networks for success. How women can unlock their potential as changemakers.
